What a home visit includes
Some appointments should not require a journey. An elderly parent who becomes confused in unfamiliar rooms, a baby with a fever at 8pm, someone recovering from surgery who cannot comfortably sit in a waiting room — these are all better handled at home, and they are the visits we do most.
Our doctors work out of two clinics, on Depot Road in Epsom and on Esher High Street, and travel from there to patients across the surrounding area. Being physically based in these towns — rather than dispatching from Reigate, Guildford or London — is why a same-day home visit is realistic here.
The visiting GP carries what a consultation actually needs: examination equipment, the ability to take bloods, swabs and an ECG where appropriate, and a private prescription pad. Our full GP service applies exactly the same at home as it does in clinic.
Why families across Surrey use our home visits
Doctors are GMC-registered and the practice is CQC regulated. There is no registration to complete, no effect on your NHS GP, and no requirement to have used us before — many home visits are a family's first contact with us.
A home visit also tells a doctor things a clinic never will. How someone actually manages the stairs, what is in the medicine cabinet, whether there is food in the fridge — for frail and elderly patients that context frequently changes the plan.

What a home visit includes
A full, unhurried consultation in your own home, with examination, on-the-spot investigations where useful, and the prescription, referral or follow-up arranged before the doctor leaves.
- Acute illness assessment for adults and children
- Elderly and frailty reviews, including falls and confusion
- Post-operative and post-hospital check-ups
- Blood tests taken at home
- ECG and observations where clinically indicated
- Private prescriptions issued on the visit
- Medication reviews and deprescribing advice
- Direct referral to consultants, imaging or hospital
Care for elderly relatives
A great many of our visits are to older patients, often arranged by an adult child who lives elsewhere and is worried. We assess what is going on clinically, review every medication on the shelf, look honestly at mobility and safety at home, and then speak to the family so everyone has the same picture. Where ongoing input is needed we can visit regularly rather than reactively.
Children seen at home
Getting an unwell child into a car and a waiting room helps nobody. A GP can assess a fever, a rash, a chest or an ear at home, and where a child needs more, our paediatric service provides consultant input. We are also clear when a child should go straight to hospital, and will arrange that immediately rather than delay it.
